CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES

CHECK OUT TIME IS NO LATER THAN 10 A.M. Central Time. NO Late Check-Outs without prior permission. (Be careful because your door access code will expire and you will not be able to get back into the unit after it does.)

Please follow this process when checking out:

Please turn on all ceilings fans to “low” so that the air will circulate and ventilate the condo prior to our housekeeper’s arrival.

Be sure that all towels are accounted for. You will be charged for lost/damaged/excessively dirty towels or linens.

Rinse soiled dishes and utensils & place in the dishwasher with dishwasher soap pod and turn on. Dishwasher pods/detergent are located under the kitchen sink.

Please clean up major boil-overs or spills in the oven. The housekeeper charges extra to clean major messes in the oven. Same for the microwave; please clean up both to avoid extra cleaning charges.

Trash must be bagged before disposing via the trash chute to aid in keeping the trash chute clean & to prevent it from getting blocked. If you have trash that is not bagged, please take it down to the 1st floor trash chute which drops directly into the dumpster.

Our housekeeper provides several trash bags per clean, but if you need more you will have to purchase them while you are there.

Please check all drawers in the bedrooms, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets for personal belongings. We are not responsible for any items left behind.

TURN OFF ALL THE LIGHTS & turn the thermostat (located in the hallway) down to 74 degrees.

There is no need to reset the combination or lock the door when you leave. The combination will expire at check-out time (10:00 am) and the door will automatically lock when you close the door. Please have all your personal belongings outside before check-out time to avoid problems. You’ll be locked out at 10:01am.

If you’ve used the key from the lockbox, please return it to the lockbox.

Please return the luggage carts to the lobby if you use them to carry your luggage/baggage down to the parking lot.

THE GATE CODE for the parking garage will be sent to you prior to your stay, as tis codes changes periodically.

WIRELESS INTERNET SETTINGS

Troubleshooting: Occasionally a storm or other instance may interrupt the connection from the router to the modem. If you cannot connect, try disconnecting the power to the modem (located on top of the TV cabinet in the living room), waiting a minute or so, then reconnecting the power to the modem.  This almost always fixes the problem.

NOTE: The TV cable & Internet service is provided by the HOA of the building. While we have our own secure connection/network in this condo, the account belongs to the HOA. If we are informed that there is a problem with either the TV or Internet we will report it immediately (or as soon as possible) to the HOA. The HOA is responsible for contacting Cox regarding the issue and for scheduling service calls. This may prove difficult if an outage happens in the evening or over a weekend. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

About the Beach

Beach Service:  As a service for our guests FREE beach service is included with your reservation – four beach chairs and two beach umbrellas set up on the beach & reserved for you each day (March 1 – October 31). Just contact the beach attendant the first time you go down to the beach and give him the unit number and the dates of your reservation.

If you wish to rent more equipment during your stay you should contact the Beach Service attendant on the beach to make arrangements. We suggest you go out to the beach early your first day to make arrangements for your rentals.

Sand Dunes:  Please make everyone in your group aware that it is illegal to walk on or across the sand dunes along the beach. They are there to protect from hurricanes. If you are caught walking on the dunes there are heavy fines. Don’t walk on the Dunes!

Dolphins:  Keep your eyes open if on the beach at dusk or dawn, we very often see dolphins swimming right off shore. If the dolphins come in close, which they do occasionally, do not get in the water and try to touch them, it is illegal to touch the dolphins (we humans have germs that can harm the dolphins).

Sea Gulls:  Do not feed sea gulls. There is a $200 fine if you are caught feeding them.

Jellyfish:  When the gulf waters get warmer (generally later in the summer) the jellyfish start to emerge. Some of them do not sting, but others do. If you, by chance, get stung by a jellyfish, here are a couple different websites that tell you how to reduce the effects:

http://www.wikihow.com/Soothe-a-Jellyfish-Sting

http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2012/05/how-to-treat-a-jellyfish-sting/

Rip Currents:  Over the past few years, there have been several ocean related deaths along the gulf coast caused by rip currents. They are the # 1 cause of deaths in the area. Please pay attention to the flags on the beach. If there is a Double RED FLAG do NOT swim. The rip tides (rip currents) can be deceptively strong. If you, by chance, do get caught in a rip tide, let the current take you out to sea then swim parallel to the beach to get out of the rip current. Here are a couple videos about how to spot and survive rip currents:  http://www.ripcurrents.com/ and  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hCZuYzNujI.

For current conditions and flag updates, text “FLAG” to 67463 to receive a link or visit  http://www.swfd.org/beach.php.

Flag Warning System

e Red Flag:  Water is closed to public (dangerous water conditions). If caught in the water during double red flags you can be ticketed, fined or even arrested. More importantly, you can die. Please don’t get in the water!

Red Flag:  High Hazard (high surf and/or strong currents). When red flags are present, adults are only supposed to go in up to their waist and small children are not supposed to enter the water. If you go in under red flag conditions, be sure to have a flotation device with you.

Yellow Flag:  Medium Hazard (moderate surf and/or currents)

Green Flag:  Low Hazard (calm conditions, exercise caution)

Purple Flag:  Marine Pests Present (jellyfish, stingrays, dangerous fish)

Sharks:  And one last precaution, there are sharks are in the Gulf. They are generally more afraid of you than you are of them. Thankfully the waters are generally very clear so you can usually see them. If you are in the water and see a big school of bait fish–often birds will be swarming in the area of baitfish schools (or you can also smell them—they smell super fishy), it’s best to get out of the water—generally there will be dolphins and sharks following them. The sharks rarely come close to shore; they mainly hang out behind the sandbar which is around 100-200 yards off the shore. Bottom line: use common sense whenever in the water, especially in the evening (when sharks do most of their feeding).

  • Please do not put luggage on the beds. Luggage racks have been provided in each bedroom.
  • Please do not use the white washcloths to remove makeup or excessive dirt. There are dark colored washcloths provided in each bathroom for this purpose.
  • Please do not put potato peelings, shrimp shells, coffee grounds or any other kinds of solid waste into the sink & through the garbage disposal. Please throw all waste into the trash.
  • HOA rules prohibit hanging anything from the railings on the balcony including bathing suits, towels, etc.

  • We do not provide beach towels. If you don’t want to pack your own you can buy inexpensive beach towels at one of the many beach stores in the area. Please do not take our bath towels, blankets or quilts out of the unit (to the pool or the beach.) After enjoying the beach please use the outdoor shower in the pool area to wash all sand off of your bodies, feet, equipment and toys before entering the condo.
